Our Mission is to provide World-Wide Internet exposure via a unique artistic expression (full-color digital interactive community map) featuring our local businesses along with roads, schools, churches, parks and historic sites specifically designed to promote the unique spirit and history of our towns, cities, neighborhoods and communities and to encourage the support of local businesses. Our mission is vital because we need to re-focus attention on our local businesses who provide the economic foundation of our towns and cities by providing jobs, collecting and paying taxes and re-investing their time and resources locally as they compete with on-line shopping. Economic studies have shown that for every $100 spent locally, $68 stays in the community helping to create a solid economic foundation.
About Us
Former Senator A.G. Crowe
A.G. Crowe, a successful businessman for many decades while serving as a school board member and state legislator, started one of his first businesses in Slidell (St. Tammany Office Products) by sponsoring a caricature poster map with his friend and artist, Ron Barthet. The project was so successful that dozens of new projects featuring businesses from various towns and cities have since been produced.
A.G. served 8 years in the House of Representatives and 8 years in the Louisiana Senate leading the charge for lower taxes, upholding family values, job opportunities and educational initiatives. He is a native of New Orleans and the north shore and earned his business degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.
He has been an active member of the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce for over 35 years and has served as a board member and President of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation. His community service also includes serving in leadership positions of the Boy Scouts of America, the Boys and Girls Club, Kiwanis, Lions, and is a two-time Paul Harris Rotarian.
A.G. is married to Linda who is a retired kindergarten teacher at Bonne Ecole in Slidell. They have 2 children and 7 grandchildren and reside in Pearl River, Louisiana.
Over the past thirty years, Ron has drawn and published more than 50 maps of small towns, primarily downtown business districts and other specialty works of art illustrating the importance of hometown businesses and the people who run them. Each map features a hometown’s greatest treasure, its locally-owned and operated businesses. Ron has also produced specialty maps for the annual ChefSoiree charity event, antiques shopping, recreational areas, and real estate and chamber of commerce magazines. Ron worked as a newspaper reporter, photographer and editor for more than 26 years, also doing free lance work for magazines and radio stations. He is a native of New Orleans and a resident of Covington for the past 48 years. Here’s a link to a webpage with several samples of my maps: http://tammanyfamily.blogspot.com/p/maps.html
